CH Robinson Article

Uncle Jim or to those at work OB talked to the Marketing Department and had an article written up; it is posted internally on one of the main pages.

Thanks Uncle OB!

Kelli Rolstad Chosen to Officiate at the Winter Olympics
Only 15 women are chosen from the entire world to officiate at the Women's Olympic Hockey Tournament. Kelli Rolstad in CHRW's IT department is one of the 15--and one of only 3 women from the U.S.--who will be officiating from February 13-25, 2010, in Vancouver, Canada.
Getting this gig is no easy feat. For the last 13 years, Rolstad has taught locally and nationally, worked games, gone to hockey camps, been evaluated, and attended national and international tournaments. She's officiated hockey for boys and girls (youth and high school), women's college (WCHA/NCHA), whitecaps, juniors, various men's and women's leagues, and women's international hockey.
That's been in her spare time, when she hasn't been working for the last two years at C.H. Robinson. She started at CPDS East Transportation Sales, and is currently a Business Analyst on the Produce Compass Build Team in IT.
Congratulations to Kelli, and to her proud uncle in the Corporate mailroom, "OB" Jim O'Brian!

USA vs. NDU - October Hockey Weekend

10/10/2009 Saturday night: Warroad, MN
U.S. Women’s National Team Rolls Past North Dakota, 11-1, in Second Game of Qwest Tour
http://www.usahockey.com/Qwest%20Tour%202009/default.aspx?id=271946&DetailedNews=yes
Officials: Referee-Kristine Langley; Linesmen-Kelli Rolstad, Laura Johnson
Attendance: 1,236
There was snow falling at 1:40 am when I picked up Laura from the airport as her flight was delayed. We left the house at 6:45 am to meet Krissy in Maple Grove. Stopping in Brainerd to drop Stella off, in Berrrrrr-midji to say hi to Vance and take some photos (Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue ox on the lake in Bemidji / duck attacking Krissy and her car in retribution for taking out the bird on the road / Giant Fish with some really scarry teeth / sign that I tell everyone about up by the boarder pointing to a city in MN and Canada). The only bummer was the attendance; when I did this game on the tour with PR and Lisa for the Salt Lake pre-tour the place was packed past fire code. Krissy did a nice job of getting us there and back safely.

10/11/2009 Sunday: Blaine, MN at the Super Rink
High School Girls Elite League 15.00 / 17.15
Partners: Candace / Brenda (2 games)

Saturday: This is the first organized run that I have participated in.
C.H. Robinson paid the entry fee for all employees that wanted to run, we had a good turn out and the yellow shirts made it easy to spot co-workers. I didn't train and my legs were pretty sore after as it is a whole different set of muscles that you would use for skating, but it was a good hurt! Thank you to Kristi for the photos. Credentials Photo...

Bad photo?
Annemarie (from work) and Mom and Lisa say I must explain!
I received an email on Thurs afternoon that I will need a credentials photo: white background, no shadow, no smile, no teeth showing, specific size, specific memory and other specs.
I call Costco, Walmart, Sams, Walgreens and other stores about taking a digital passport photo. They don't / can't do it they can only print it out.
Over the weekend Cory (husband), Katie (sister) and Mom (mom) take photos in the basement bathroom, because it the only room with white walls in the house. We use fake lighting and have no success; the walls look yellow and there are shadows.
The photo is due on Monday at 12.00 so I get up early and go to CVS before work, panicked, they take the photo, download it on to their system, print it out, scan it back on to their system and write a disk so I can take it work and email it by the deadline.
Who would have thought that this would have been such a difficult thing to do?!?

You are going to Vancouver!

Congratulations on your selection to officiate the 2010 Winter Olympic Games!

Now that you have achieved your goal, your work is not done. Let's make darn sure that you are prepared to perform at the highest level come February 12th. Now is the time to work harder physically and mentally than you ever have before. There will be plenty of time to sit back and relax after you have gone through the Olympic experience.
