Cystic Fibrosis Hockey Tourney at the Sport Center

Today I worked 3 games in the Cystic Fibrosis Hockey Tourney over in Blaine at the Schwan's Super Rink.

It was a one day tourney and all the officials that worked donated their game fees to the event.

All the players on the men's teams were police officers or firefighters.

What a great event and a good cause!

ACHA DI DII College Club National Tourney - Supervisor

03.11.10 - 03.14.2010 (Thurs - Sunday)

ACHA DI and DII College Club Finals the the Schwan's Super Rink in Blaine, MN.
Thurs night after work I was off to the rink in Blaine to supervise the 12 women officials working the college club national tournament. Laura Rinde came in from California to be the President and I took the Vice President spot:)

Participants: Ceci Morris (CO), Leah O'Brien (CO), Liz Kellerman (CA), Jessica Hahnle (CO), Krissy Langley (MN), Annette Lin (WA), Brenda Reinen (WI), Jerilyn Glenn (AZ), Candace Utecht (MN), Kristin Moore (OH), Danielle Dillabough (NY), Debbie McLaughlin (MN), and Karly Schoeman (MN). Supervisors: Rinde and OB.

I took Friday off from the "real job" and was in the rink till late Sunday afternoon.
Thurs night I took Rinde down to the bar in St. Paul to meet some of the boys high school tourney officiating crew. She met our boy Dokken... yes, Dok you get plug, but only because you worked the 4 OT game. Sat night over our short lunch break all the girls along with Cyndi Roberson came back to the house for pizza, subs, pool and a short intro to The Hangover. I skated 2 games on Sat night and loosing an hour to daylight savings time we had a late night with a 3 OT game getting over at 12.30 and up for our first game on Sunday morning at 8.30am.
The girls did a great job! We had 2 hearings; this was my first experience in this role, but Rinde did a great job teaching me the ropes.

Cyndi and Marshall Stevenson

Rachel found me at the rink; Roger was playing in the Ironman up there.

THANK YOU to the GUYS at BIG Arena for putting up with me a few times a week; and NOT EVER giving me anything free!
Skating with Ava, Katie and Cory (this is only the 4th time in 11 years I have seen him skate and he's pretty good!) at the Excel Center Mom and Dad came to watch and Dad even took a few rounds on Cory's skates!
01.22 Friday WCHA: MN State (1) vs. Duluth (3) in Mankato with Digger, Blair and Coffee

Got home Friday night in the rain / ice storm and pulled into the driveway around midnight after the game. The car only made it about 1/3rd of the way up then slid back into the snow; couldn't get up (ice) and couldn't get down (snow) so I left it right there blocking the sidewalk. I called Cory, in the house, and he helped me bring my bag in up the ice rink of a driveway.
01.23 Saturday WCHA: MN State (1) vs. Duluth (2) in Mankato (Just a friendly note: I have never experienced my partner falling into to the teams bench! The poor UMD team tried helping Coffee out, but couldn't push him up!

Duluth in January?

01.11 Monday: Treadmill with Eric at etrain http://www.etrainhockey.com/
01.12 Tuesday: Watching Megan's Varsity Hockey game at Eden Prairie with Dad and Margaret; Chaska won in OT! (Nice work Billy and Tony; the officials.) This is where I almost get kicked out of the rink for not buying a ticket, but the rink guy said he was sorry for the confusion and I'm back in to watch the game... The Dad's on the Chaska team were trying to teach me how to use the new camera... I need to get the manual out and read it!
01.13 Wednesday: Treadmill with Eric at etrain http://www.etrainhockey.com/
It's more fun when Eric skates too! Mr. Fancy Pants with no safety harness:)

Tana; UR the Best!!! Thanks for the package!

(the last full season at the DECC - UMD is building a new rink, but I still think this rink has the most beautiful view of Lake Superior!)

(well known views in Duluth: the drawbridge, Grandmas; you haven't lived until you try the wild rice soup and a malt and the boats in the harbor surrounded by ice)

USA vs. NDU - October Hockey Weekend

10/10/2009 Saturday night: Warroad, MN
U.S. Women’s National Team Rolls Past North Dakota, 11-1, in Second Game of Qwest Tour
http://www.usahockey.com/Qwest%20Tour%202009/default.aspx?id=271946&DetailedNews=yes
Officials: Referee-Kristine Langley; Linesmen-Kelli Rolstad, Laura Johnson
Attendance: 1,236
There was snow falling at 1:40 am when I picked up Laura from the airport as her flight was delayed. We left the house at 6:45 am to meet Krissy in Maple Grove. Stopping in Brainerd to drop Stella off, in Berrrrrr-midji to say hi to Vance and take some photos (Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue ox on the lake in Bemidji / duck attacking Krissy and her car in retribution for taking out the bird on the road / Giant Fish with some really scarry teeth / sign that I tell everyone about up by the boarder pointing to a city in MN and Canada). The only bummer was the attendance; when I did this game on the tour with PR and Lisa for the Salt Lake pre-tour the place was packed past fire code. Krissy did a nice job of getting us there and back safely.

10/11/2009 Sunday: Blaine, MN at the Super Rink
High School Girls Elite League 15.00 / 17.15
Partners: Candace / Brenda (2 games)

Saturday: This is the first organized run that I have participated in.
C.H. Robinson paid the entry fee for all employees that wanted to run, we had a good turn out and the yellow shirts made it easy to spot co-workers. I didn't train and my legs were pretty sore after as it is a whole different set of muscles that you would use for skating, but it was a good hurt! Thank you to Kristi for the photos.
